How To Prevent Mould
Install extraction fans in the kitchen and bathroom.
Install a positive pressure system such as DVS or HRV.
Install security stays on lower level windows to allow the tenants to safety ventilate.
Include a dehumidifier to enable tenants to remove moisture from the property.
Repair water leaks in the roof, windows, or any other part of the home as soon as you become aware of them.
Check refrigerator and fridge doors seal properly to prevent moisture escaping.
Install insulation in the ceiling, walls and underfloor.
How To Remove Mould From Surfaces
Use Laundry Detergent To Remove Mould
Wipe or scrub surface with a mixture of water and either laundry detergent or dishwashing soap.
Rinse area and dry quickly with a towel.
Use Chlorine Bleach To Kill Mould
Scrub surface with water and detergent.
Water down chlorine bleach (approx. 1:10 ratio).
Spray the mouldy area with the diluted chlorine bleach and leave for approximately 15 minutes to kill the mould.
Rinse area and dry quickly.
A Note Of Caution
Keep chlorine bleach out of reach from children.
Be careful not to splash or spill chlorine bleach on fabric or rugs as this can remove their colours.
Never mix chlorine bleach with products containing ammonia or acids – this will create a deadly gas.
