Rents in Wellington has been rising the fastest out of the main centers, including Auckland, and is now considered the most expensive in the country according to Trade Me insights.
Tawa itself continues to be highly popular amongst tenants. The median asking rent is $540, up by 3.8% from the previous year, and up by 26.5% over the past three years. Over the Summer period we've found tenants have increasingly preferred to stay put and enjoy living in Tawa, rather than change properties. It looks like that's the general response across Tawa, as there are 53.4% fewer rental listings compared to this time last year, showing the high demand for the area. As capital gains are rising, so are rent values and tenant demand, making Tawa continue to look good for investors who are holding onto their properties and looking to grow their portfolio.
