Big news for all property investors - yesterday it was announced the compliance deadline for Healthy Homes Statements has been extended from 1 July 2020 to 1 December 2020.

This means from 1 December 2020, all new, varied or renewed tenancy agreements must include a comprehensive Healthy Homes Statement detailing the property's level of compliance regarding heating, ventilation, insulation, draughts, moisture and drainage.
The extension was granted in recognition of landlords and tradespeople needing access to rental properties to complete inspections and determine the level of compliance, which of course was debilitated during Covid-19 lockdown.
Yesterday Associate Housing Minister Kris Faafoi explained “The extended deadline will not affect any of the dates by which rental properties have to comply with the Healthy Homes Standards. The delayed deadline only refers to the requirement for a detailed statement of current compliance. The remaining deadlines are not being changed.”
“Moving the deadline to 1 December 2020 will mean new tenancies beginning over the summer period in December and February can be incorporated into the statement of compliance process.”
